라우갤러리는 2025년 11월 04(화)일부터 11월 09(일)일까지 허현 작가의 초대개인전《옻이 피다》를 기획 전시한다.

이번 전시는 전통 옻칠 기법을 바탕으로 일상의 풍경과 기억, 그리고 내면의 사유를 시각적으로 풀어낸 이화영 작가의 작업 세계를 조망합니다. 작가는 정교한 옻칠과 자개(나전)의 빛을 활용하여 우리가 무심히 지나치는 일상의 장면과 사소한 감정의 파편들을 예술적 형상으로 재구성합니다.

전시장에 펼쳐진 작품들은 각각 독립된 서사를 지니는 동시에, 관람자의 시선을 따라 서로 연결되며 깊은 예술적 흐름을 만들어냅니다. 익숙한 소재 위에 수놓아진 자개의 광채는 숨겨진 기억과 감정을 환기시키며, 관객으로 하여금 자신의 경험과 감정을 작품 속에 투영하도록 이끕니다.

This exhibition explores the artistic world of Lee Hwa-young, who uses traditional lacquer techniques to visually interpret everyday landscapes, memories, and inner reflections. Utilizing the delicate lacquer and the luminosity of mother-of-pearl (najeon), the artist reconstructs everyday scenes and fragments of insignificant emotions, often overlooked, into artistic forms.

The works displayed in the exhibition each possess an independent narrative, yet connect with the viewer's gaze, creating a profound artistic flow. The radiance of mother-of-pearl, embroidered on familiar materials, evokes hidden memories and emotions, inviting the viewer to project their own experiences and emotions into the work.

Lee Hwa-young uses the traditional medium of lacquer not simply as a craft tool, but as a medium for illuminating the invisible inner landscape. In this exhibition, the artist's touch serves as a tool to expand the senses and thoughts, offering the viewer a "time of contemplation" that goes beyond mere "appreciation."
