심민경 작가 초대전 



라우갤러리는 2026년 7월 1일(수)부터 7월 12일(일)까지 《심민경 작가 초대전》을 개최한다.


이번 전시는 음악과 그림이 만나 탄생한 심민경 작가만의 독창적인 예술 세계를 소개하는 자리이다. 작가는 음악을 통해 내면을 정화하고, 그 과정에서 생성되는 감정과 기억, 그리고 희망의 풍경을 산수화로 풀어낸다. 작품 속에 등장하는 고양이는 단순한 동물이 아닌 작가 자신이자 더 나은 내일을 꿈꾸는 모든 이들을 상징하는 존재로 자리한다.


심민경 작가는 클래식 음악을 전공한 경험과 음악을 색으로 인식하는 공감각적 감성을 바탕으로 회화와 음악의 경계를 넘나드는 작품 세계를 구축해 왔다. 작품 속 산수는 실제 자연의 풍경과 음악으로부터 비롯된 상상적 이미지가 결합된 공간으로, 현실과 이상이 공존하는 또 하나의 세계를 보여준다.


특히 대표 연작인 「고양이 음악 산수」는 예술을 통해 현실의 불순물을 정화하고 희망을 발견하는 과정을 담고 있다. 숲과 산, 폭포와 구름이 깃든 고양이의 형상은 삶의 가능성을 찾아 나서는 인간의 모습을 은유하며, 화면 곳곳에 등장하는 작은 고양이들은 감상자들이 작품 속 세계를 자유롭게 여행할 수 있도록 이끄는 존재들이다.


또한 작가는 자극적인 색채보다 자연 본연의 색과 질감을 중요하게 생각하며, 한지와 먹을 중심으로 따뜻하고 몽환적인 화면을 구현한다. 이러한 작품들은 현대 사회 속에서 지친 감각을 잠시 쉬어가게 하고, 관람객 각자가 자신만의 이상향과 희망을 상상할 수 있는 공간을 제공한다.

ROW Gallery presents Sim Min-Kyung Invitational Exhibition from July 1 to July 12, 2026.


This exhibition introduces the unique artistic world of Sim Min-Kyung, where music and painting converge to create poetic landscapes of memory, imagination, and hope. Through her work, the artist explores the process of emotional purification, transforming personal experiences and inner reflections into visual forms inspired by music.


At the center of her artistic language is the cat, a recurring symbol that represents not only the artist herself but also those who continue to dream of a better tomorrow. Rather than depicting ordinary animals, the cats become metaphorical beings that embody growth, healing, and the pursuit of an ideal world.


Drawing upon her background in classical music and her synesthetic ability to perceive sounds as colors, Sim creates landscapes that blend real scenery with imagined visions born from music. These paintings exist between reality and fantasy, forming dreamlike environments where memory, emotion, and aspiration coexist.


Her signature series, Cat Musical Landscape, portrays the journey of cleansing the mind through art and discovering new possibilities within life. Mountains, forests, waterfalls, and clouds merge with feline forms, creating symbolic worlds where nature and spirit become one. Small cats hidden throughout the compositions invite viewers to enter the scene and wander freely through these imagined realms.


Working primarily with traditional Korean paper and ink, the artist favors natural tones and subtle textures over intense colors. Her paintings offer moments of stillness and contemplation, encouraging viewers to pause, reflect, and envision their own utopian landscapes.


Through this exhibition, visitors are invited to experience the healing power of art and to encounter a world where music becomes visible, landscapes become emotions, and cats become companions on a journey toward hope and imagination.
